A winter storm watch is in effect for portions of the Northeast that could see between 6-7 inches of snow and more snow in the west, while the south is expecting severe storms tomorrow and Florida sees summerlike heat; plus more of today’s weather news and forecast.
The calendar may say spring, but the weather says winter. A winter storm warning has been issued for portions of Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts today through early Tuesday.
In Maine, accumulation could reach over a foot or more.
Massachusetts could see up to 7 inches of snow with poor travel conditions through tomorrow.
New Hampshire is expecting 5-8 inches of snow, possibly higher in the mountains, with temperatures in the 30s in the morning, shifting to the 40s in the afternoon that should begin to melt off some of the accumulation.
Snow is also possible in portions of northern New York and Vermont. Michigan will also start the morning with snowfall, but it should quickly begin to melt off early in the day.
Out west, snow will fall in portions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and over the Sierra in California.
A high possibility for strong and severe thunderstorms returns to the south Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday morning.
Areas with the highest likelihood severe weather include most of Tennessee, especially Southern Tennessee near the Alabama border, as well as the northern half of Alabama, but most particularly the northern quarter.
Other states with high possibility include northern Louisiana, northwestern Georgia, northeastern Arkansas, southern Missouri, southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, and northwestern North Carolina.
A moderate risk exists for eastern Oklahoma, eastern Kansas, Missouri, northern Louisiana, the Florida Panhandle, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, western and southern Virginia, southern and western West Virginia, Kentucky, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, and southern Illinois.
