Mother Nature is going to be delivering yet another round of snowstorms spanning from the West to the East over the next two days; plus, more of today’s weather news and forecast.
Forget the fact that we’re into the middle of spring. Thursday and Friday are going to bring widespread snow across the nation.
On Thursday, a wide band of snow will span from the West to the country’s midsection. The National Weather Service is predicting snow for southern Montana, eastern Idaho, the entirety of Wyoming, most of Utah and Colorado, with heavy snowfall around Denver and surrounding areas, which is expected to continue into Saturday.
Snow will also fall on southern South Dakota, the entirety of Nebraska, the southern half of Iowa, northern Kansas, northern Missouri, and eastern Illinois.
Mixed precipitation on Thursday could also transform into snowfall for southern Wisconsin and Michigan, the northern areas of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. A wintry mix with a chance of snow is also on tap for Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Eastern Massachusetts, and Maine.
On Friday, the snowstorms move east, bringing snow to the upper Midwest, Ohio Valley and Northeast. Accumulations of up to 4-6 inches are likely.
Seattle, Washington, a city famous for the amount of rainfall it receives is experiencing a dry April. So far, the city has had 13 straight days without measurable rain. By contrast, some of the typically driest cities in the West have had more rain than Seattle in April.
So far this month, Los Angeles has seen 2.68 inches, San Diego 3.9 inches and Las Vegas 0.16 inches. The driest April Seattle has ever experienced was 1956 when the city saw only 0.33 inches of rain for the month.
