Winter Keeps Coming with Snow Today and Vast Storm Later This Week

Winter just doesn’t want to quit this year as areas of the West and Central US will see snow today as a more expansive snowstorm will be taking shape on Wednesday and Thursday; plus, today’s weather news and forecast.

Tuesday’s snow forecast

Northwest & Northern Rockies: The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting snow over most of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming today, as well as portions of northern Utah and northern/north-central Colorado.

Areas of mixed precipitation could transform into snowflakes for portions of northern and eastern Washington, as well as Northeastern Oregon.

Southwest & Central US: The NWS is forecasting snow for eastern New Mexico, northern Texas, and throughout most of Oklahoma.

Upper Midwest & Ohio Valley: Mixed precipitation that could bring a few snowflakes is forecast over southern and eastern Iowa, northern Missouri, the northern half of Illinois and Indiana, southern Wisconsin, and throughout Michigan.

Southeast: Mixed precipitation is forecast over portions of eastern Tennessee, Western Virginia, and throughout West Virginia.

East: Mixed precipitation could deliver some snowflakes for portions of Pennsylvania, New York, western Massachusetts, as well as southern Vermont and New Hampshire.

Expansive snowstorms on Wednesday/Thursday

A large area of mixed precipitation and snowfall will begin taking shape over the northern tier of the US on Wednesday and expand on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting a large area of snow over the northwest and north and Rockies, heavy in some areas for portions of Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado.

Mixed precipitation will extend from Nebraska across the Ohio Valley and into the mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

On Thursday, the NWS is forecasting an expansive snowstorm that will spread from Nevada to New York. Snow is predicted over portions of Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, South Dakota, Nevada, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.
